Washr is a mobile car detailing service operating across KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It is written to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Who we are
Washr, based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. You can reach us on WhatsApp at 076 549 7157 or by email at washrmobile@gmail.com. For any question about your personal information, use either of those.
What we collect
- Contact details you give us when you book: your name, phone number, and the suburb or address where the vehicle is parked.
- Vehicle details: make, model, and any notes you send us about condition or access.
- Booking history: which packages you booked, when, and what you paid, so we can service monthly clients and handle queries.
- Photographs of your vehicle, taken before and after a detail, as a record of the work.
We do not collect ID numbers, and we do not store card details. Payment is by cash or EFT, handled directly between you and us.
Why we collect it
Only to run the service: to confirm your booking, arrive at the right place at the right time, quote accurately, invoice you, and follow up if something needs putting right. We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not share it for marketing.
Photographs of your car
We photograph vehicles as a record of the work, and we sometimes post that work on Instagram or on this website. Number plates are obscured or cropped out. If you would rather your vehicle never appears publicly, tell us at the booking and we will keep the photographs internal. If something is already up and you want it taken down, message us and we will remove it.
Who else sees your information
- WhatsApp (Meta), when you message us to book. Their own privacy terms apply to that conversation.
- Setmore, if you book through the online booking page, which stores your name and contact details for the appointment.
- Nobody else. There are no advertising trackers on this website.
How long we keep it
Booking and contact records are kept for as long as you are a client and for three years afterwards, which covers invoicing queries and any dispute about work done. Vehicle photographs are kept as part of our portfolio unless you ask us to delete them.
Your rights under POPIA
You may ask us at any time to show you what information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete your information, or stop contacting you. Message us on WhatsApp or email and we will action it. There is no charge, and we will respond within a reasonable period.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
Security
We are a small operation. Your details live in our phone, our email, and our booking system, all of which are password protected. We do not keep paper records of client details.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
